Puppies are going home!
It’s always bitter-sweet when they start leaving. It’s so fun to meet the neat families who end up getting our puppies. I really need to start taking pictures when puppies start leaving so I can remember what everyone looks like! After weeks (sometimes, months) of conversing back-and-forth with the people who are anticipating their new arrival, I really enjoy finally meeting them in person.
If you’re getting a puppy from us, be prepared to be bombarded with a bunch of kids as you walk in the door. Expect to receive a few hugs and, possibly, witness a few tears. My littles still don’t quite grasp that these puppies are only theirs to snuggle for a couple short months. But, to a 6-year-old, that’s a long time. I will often be asked to see pictures of a special puppy that they, at one time, called theirs. I never really see the puppies as ours. I try to explain that we’re only taking care of the puppies for someone else, but it’s hard for those little hearts not to get attached to a puppy they have seen (often) be born, open its eyes, start taking steps, start giving kisses and wagging that cute little tail, and then finally be ready to play! Hours are spent cuddling that little bundle. Thankfully, we are often anticipating another litter when those little guys are ready to go home, but the pain of loss is still there. So, yes, it’s a bitter-sweet time, indeed.
Rough Start to 2026

Honestly, this has been a hard year so far…
1 – Our cow passed away
2 – I was having some pretty significant health issues caused by a mysterious problem that no one could figure out
3 – And then… the discovery of MVD with Bentley
But… God is faithful!
1 – After lots of looking, we found a wonderful new cow
2 – Through God’s grace, it was finally confirmed that my health problems stemmed from an infected tooth that had a root canal done 6 years ago. It’s a bit slow-going, but there has definitely been improvement.
3 – It’s probably no surprise that everything that has transpired since the discovery of Bentley’s MVD has had a negative financial impact on our family. We still have a few puppies left, but we aren’t expecting any new ones. We haven’t had a resolution to this problem, yet, but trusting that we will in time 🙂
Difficult times aren’t fun. This season has been frustrating, sorrowful, and confusing. But, it has also been a time of growth in many ways, so I’m thankful for that.
